• S-Pipe

i'm planning on going with a 3" in/out catco then a 2.75" v8 i-pipe. so i figure it would be best to replace the s-pipe as well. i'd like to do this as cheap as possible since it's just a pipe. my first thought was 2 45 degree mandrel bends from jcwhitney. but that's $40 plus tax shipping etc. will a s-pipe from a v8 work? is their exhaust set up like ours? or has anyone had their muffler shop make one? i know they can't do mandrel bends, but they can do a crimp bend or whatever. how much would that cost? if you got any other ideas let me know. i'm tryin to save money for college, but i want to mod too :D

The exhaust system on the V8s are made different from the I pipe on up to the manifolds. Their Y pipe is connected to the I pipe unlike the 6s.

ah, d@mn. hey your exhaust system looks almost exactly like what i want to do. how much did you pay to have all that stuff welded together? and did you go with 45 or 90 degree mandrel bends for the s-pipe? i know 45 will flow better, but looking under my car i don't know how well they'll fit. oh and how does it sound? are you happy with the way you did it? sorry bout all the questions, just wanna do it right thanks man

I paid around 70 bucks for everything including the hole for the 02 sensor bung on the new S pipe. It's a 50/50 chance you'll get the SES light. I had everything done about 4 months ago and no SES light so far. The 45 degree pipes WILL work. I didn't think it'll work neither, but thanx to SLACKER, I found out he was right. The muffler shop will have to cut em down and maybe a little off your I pipe also. If they say they can't do it, they're lazy and full of . The 3" catco cat along with the 2.75 I pipe made my dynomax sound like the flows I had at idle.

P.S. I see you're from the show me state. Where about?

not true with single cat V8's. single cat V8's have the same set up as the V6's with the exception of the hangers on different years.

You're right. I forgot about that. I guess the older models have single cats.

That should work fine. I believe all 93-97 LT1's have the single cat w/ s-pipe, whereas 98+ LS1's got dual cats.

Check out SLP part number 30045...it's a Loudmouth installation kit with a mandrel bent 3" s-pipe. I dunno if this will help, but if so....
