does fast toys ram air LS1 98-02 kit work with the 99-02 V6?

I figured the answer would be yes because we have the same airbox? correct? someone enlighten me because I'm about to buy a used one off a fellow LS1'er

Yes, I bought my FTRA kit from a friend that had it on an LS1 car. And to the doubters of if it's worth it, hell yea! Took over 2/10's off my quarter mile time. Big difference! Consider that in a race, they say a tenth of a second is about one car length....well, a car that used to beat you by to lengths will now have a [img]graemlins/omg.gif[/img] look on his face.

I wouldn't believe that it dropped your 1/4 by .2 unless you made at least 10 runs before and 10 runs after the install of that FTRA and it was all done on the same night. So many factors. I have a HARD time believe this way overpriced piece of aluminum does THAT much for our small displacement engines.

I'm just recommending you save it and spend it on a mod that is more concrete in terms of what it does for you.

Yes, It works. I've done it, backwards(l36 to ls1) but it works. I would definitely try to find one used, though.

Yea, I had run on the street against certain V6 F-bodies hat would beat me by 2 links or more...Right after the FTRA, I beat him (Jhonathan on these boards to be exact)....I ran at the track EVERY week before I had the kit for like 5 weeks, never could get any better times...The sumemr got warmer, and I got the kit, and my times dropped. Do you think that was due to the heat? Nope, and I started beating Jhonathan by a car as soon as I got the kit. That "way overpriced piece of aluminum " really works.

The mileage it has on it really doesn't matter....It's just as good used as it was new...I paid $50 for mine off a friend, if you can find it anywhere $100 or less I'd say it's a steal. I got lucky when my friend sold his old TA he sold his mods.

I paid $100 for mine and that included shipping. It was actually only that cheap because somebody bought it and then didn't like the slightly off center fit of it. Think the original price that he wanted was $120 including shipping.

Oh yeah, not sure which added more, but with adding the FTRA, replacing the cat and S pipe with 3" pipe it cut .3 off my time and added 1 mph. My slowest time was faster than my previous fastest after adding those two mods. That was a gain over all of the other mods that I had. See my sig for details or my webpage.

you guys are lucky you live in the states, my FTRA kit when i get it will cost me 290.00 canadian, but it is also new. If i found one for even 200 i would be happy.

on slower cars, it makes a bigger difference. if you already have some stuff done, no, it won't take off 2/10's. besides, until our cars get faster in the 1/4, the ram air effect doesn't help as much as the cold air effect does. i'd like to see somebody run a boost gauge while running w/ the ftra and actually see how much of a ram air effect occurs when driving at higher speeds. that is the only way to prove if the ram air thing works.

This is why companies like Thunder Racing and the likes sell the Whisper lid and the ram air kits in a pair....truely, I saw as much of a gain with the FTRA as I did with the whisper lid....Both worthwhile mods IMO. What good is having the cold air, if you don't have enough air getting in anyway?
