  • Question/Gutting Cat (searched)

Ok so ive done some searching on the forums about this subject and ive decided to ask for some opinions on this matter. What ive got is in my signature. My question is, without regards to being enviromentally friendly. What do you guys think about me gutting my catalytic converter. I dont have emissions here in Alabama so I wouldnt have any trouble with that, at least for a little while if they were to start. Im looking for a more throaty sound from my exhaust and id also like to drop some low end torque and move it a little higher in the powerband to smooth out the power curve a bit. As it is all my power is from 1500-4000 rpm's. After this point I have no power and it really feels like the exhuast is holding it back. Im totally stock except for a customized intake so exhaust is basically all im lacking. If it wont help power, which im pretty sure it will, im at least looking for a little extra rumble to the exhaust note. Anyone with any thoughts and opinions please feel free to post. All remarks are appreciated.

catco cat $60 shipped from Summit Racing
although..... im a Rebel, and I say go for it!
especially if you have a welding machine, i'd do it.

gutted cat = louder, more raspy, high pitched.
if you want rumble, get a rumbler muffler and 3" exhaust.

i have a catco high flow cat for $50 sale.
with a high flow cat you'll have more power throughout the rpm range (not just high rpms).

unless you really need to have a cat on your car in your state then buy one,but if you dont need one then just put a straight pipe
