I would rank Magnaflow sound as one of the worst sounding for our cars. This is compared to systems like the Rumbler, Borla, and Flowmaster. I heard it in person on a V6 Camaro and it was real high pitched and raspy.

That looks nice, I'd probably say it does have a nice rumble. Atleast at low RPM's

I actually have a magnaflow on my car, I added a dynomax bullet muffler in the mid pipe and I think it sounds good, nice rumble at idle, not a lot of rasp until the high end about 5 grand and then only coming down. plus I put a sound clip on hear not long ago to let you know what it sounds like

try listening to a 3" magnaflow behind a set of headers.

I went to this setup from a 2.5" Flowmaster and couldnt be happier.

my magnaflow kit is pretty loud and rumbly. it sounds REAL good upto about 4000rpm and then if you are not a car junky (or are unlucky enough to be standing on the street or in a car next to me) you wouldn't like it. aftermarket mufflers are loud and nasty to 'everyone else.' I have not heard a flomaster in person (on a v6) so I can't compare...but compared to a stock muffler you get better flow and a more powerful sound. The 2.5 kit (the one you are looking at) will not be as loud as a 3"conversion but I am assuming it is the same muffler. if it is too harsh (at higer rpms) you can add a bullet muffler in the mid pipe to tone it down a bit.

flowmaster is the only catback i've actually heard in person on a v6 f-body. it sounded nice when it was idling, but i wasn't a fan of it at all when the car started moving. too high-pitched for my tastes.

I've been wanting to say this.
I have a magnaflow on my car and it not only sounds good, but contrary to what people say about how some aftermarket systems sound ricey up top, mine sounds good all the way through. I'm not saying it sounds v8, because it doesn't, but not ricey in the least bit. Thats the thing about the magnaflow, in my opinion it wont make the car much louder, just a really nice deep sound.
Honestly though, I think a lot of it depends on the car too, which is why some people think some systems sound bad that others think are awesome.

As far as flowmaster, I agree that it sounds good because I know a guy with one on his 97 camaro, but I will throw this out there, that is the cheapest aftermarket system you can get and I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. Go borla if you can.
