Just passed emissions, so I plan on removing my cat and just placing a pipe in its place with the idea that I would bolt the cat back in every 2 years for the test and then put the pipe back in. Any ways I got the pipe, fittings, clamps, etc. and when I tried to get the cat out of there it wouldn't budge. I got the rear connectors off, but the part that attaches to the Y pipe is on there really tight. I managed to losen it, but aside from wiggling it a bit I had no luck. I tried every thing, wiggling it out, pulling on for about 30 min., tried to hammer it out with a mallet, hammered at the fitting a bit, nothing! There was an exhaust clamp which I removed and that was it! It's my guess (due to an indent in the pipe) that the clamp crimped the cat on to the y pipe. My only altenative seems to be a hacksaw, however I would rather not have to resort to that. Any ideas?
