Are there any headers that I can get for less than 200 or maybe less than $250? What kind of increase can i get from a new set of headers. I still dont have a High Flow cat. Should i get that first? Would the high flow cat by itself make any difference?

After installing my cat I noticed a difference in tone on my flowmasters..not too much though. As far as headers go...im not really sure.W68, K&N, Flowmaster, Walker Cat, 18 x 9.5 Chrome Y2k C5\'s w/ 275/35/18 Kumho 712\'s, Susp Tech 1.2 inch drop front, 1.7 inch drop rear, Hotchkis Adj PHR,Slotted/Cross Drilled Rotors
Hawk Pads
Pics: http://community.webshots.com/user/franjobc-date

Unfortunately, the price is more around $450 for them. You can expect a gain in the "top end" I have heard.
Weather that means: cruising at 60 then punching it, and you're now hauling major *** .
Or: if they mean 5000 RPM suddenly feel more powerful.
It would be cool if it were both, and that's what I am hoping for.
A high flow cat and a catback exhaust will give you a great gain also. Headers are basically the icing on the cake.Sean: 1994 Camaro daily driver

Did you have any problems with your SES light coming on after you had your cat installed? If so, what did you do to fix the problem?

After having done it, I would recommend not bothering with headers unless you have the money to drop on a decent set (and yes I'd endorse the Clear Image Automotive headers for the 3.8 over the RKSports...) AS WELL AS the money to pay someone to install them for you. The install is the biggest pain in the *** ever.. getting the old equipment off is actually worse than putting the new on though. But unless you're going to go to nitrous or blower or something, then I wouldn't bother with headers. They make very little performance or sound gain.
As for the high flow cat - I had it put on at the same time as the headers, so I don't know how much of the change in sound or performance I could attribute to it. But yes, the SES came on. As a matter of fact, it is still on since I never turned it off... What you have to do is get ahold of a scanner and clear the codes.-James

\'96 3.8L A4 Camaro (SOLD)

before I installed my headers I had an SLP CAI and Flowmaster then I installed the headers and hi flow cat. What I noticed was smoother power through the rpm band. The car was a lot easier to drive and if you combine the headers with a bigger I pipe it get's pretty loud. Power per dollar it might not be worth it, for instance with the same amount of money you could knock .5 off your e.t. with a torque converter or LSD and 3.73's/3.42's. I think though that eventually you'll want to do it, just depends if you want to do it now or later. You might want to waite to see if you can get some used, which I dought would happen, and just go ahead other mods that you have had in mind.1 of a kind
Red 97 Camaro
Modifications:
SLP CAI, RK Sport Headers, Car Sound High Flow Cat, 3\" piping
3\" Steel driveshaft, SFC\'s, Panhard Rod, MAC Torque Arm
Manual Fan Switch
Best E/T:
60\' 2.152
330 6.271
1/8th 9.704
MPH 71.93

My old cat on my car broke and was rattling like a mofo...so what I did since I didn't have a extra cat..I just went to the shop and got it done straight pipe till my cat came in. After about 40 minutes of driving the SES light did come on. After I got my high flow cat installed...again after about 40 minutes the SES light disappeared and I have had no problems whatsoever since. I didn't have to take it to the dealer or anything.W68, K&N, Flowmaster, Walker Cat, 18 x 9.5 Chrome Y2k C5\'s w/ 275/35/18 Kumho 712\'s, Susp Tech 1.2 inch drop front, 1.7 inch drop rear, Hotchkis Adj PHR,Slotted/Cross Drilled Rotors
Hawk Pads
Pics: http://community.webshots.com/user/franjobc-date

When i removed my stock cat, & put a 3" magnaflow cat, the ses never came on. Then when i put on a 2.5" catco, the ses light has come off & on ever since. I'm thinking it might be too restrictive.2002 Electron Blue Corvette
1999 Black Mazda Truck
AKA: Night Rider

What made you decide to switch from the magnaflow to the catco? I just wanna get the right cat99 Camaro Z28 A4
R.I.P. 00 Firebird 3.8
14.89 @ 90, 2.03 60\'

Originally i ran a 3" magnaflow cat w/ a 2.5" NON-Mandrel bent i-pipe connecting to a flowpro muffler. Once i upgraded to a complete triflow cat-back exhuast system from B&B, it was too loud, & i lost too much backpressure, since my torque was raised to a higher rpm. I i really that low-end punch of power. So i decided to go w/ a 2.5" catco. Which did the trick. My exhuast note became much milder, & I could certainly feel the torque down low where i wanted it.
Does that make sense?2002 Electron Blue Corvette Coupe
13.083@108.23

2002 Metallic Red Grandprix GTP SOLD
14.49@94.42 (Bone stock)

2002 Black Convertible Camaro Z28
times comming real soon!

The 3" catco from summit is cheaper. Does anybody know the reason? I already have two 3" 90 degree pipes(making the S pipe)from jcwhitney. From some of the posts i've been reading, it seems the 2.5" cats trigger the SES light alot more than the 3". I'm kinna confused. I wanna get a high flow cat that'll make my exhaust tone deeper and improve flow, not too loud though. I also thought the 3" I pipe is what makes the car lose torque, not the size of the cat. Yep, im curious too. If I go from my stock cat to a 3" high flow cat will i loose low end torque? That would definitely not be cool. Id like to go with the 3" on my 2.5" pipes, but i wouldnt want to loose that low end power.
