  • Best Exhaust Setup? I think so if you like it without rasp..

Well turns out I kinda got scammed when I bought my WS6 muffler as it was just a regular Z28 muffler, and it had a lot of weld slag where he cut the old pipes off with a blowtorch so i couldnt put outlet pipes bigger than 2.25" on it and the inlet was restricted to 2.5". It sounded good and all but I wanted tips and a 3" muffler so I went looking and decided to try something new. I found a 3" stainless steel rear section (brand new) from the Firehawk optional factory exhaust and bought it for $100. It came with the stainless 3" inlet muffler, dual 2.5" outlets, and the 2.5" stainless pipes, but no tips. I was a bit skeptical since I've never heard the setup before. Had it installed a week ago and all I can say is amazing! No rasp. No chainsaw sound. Good throaty tone. No ricing sound like Ive heard with dynomax. I honestly didnt know a 3.8 could sound this good. I will post soundclips VERY soon of neutral revs high into the rpm range, acceleration in the car, and acceleration outside of the car. My full (and final exhaust system ever since its so damn wonderful sounding) is: Custom cold air induction, Pacesetter Ceramic Headers, no cat, 3" piping, 3" Firehawk Stainless muffler, dual 3" stainless tips.

Should have sound clips this afternoon, and no nitrous going through this muffler :D

This interests me, I've never heard a 3.8 without a cam or heads that sounds good.

i looked up this muffler based on the ebay link provided by choney. I looked at SLP mufflers and then went to ls1tech.com. they have A BUNCH of sound clips and they are very well organized. there were a couple catagories for SLP. I think it is the SLP 'dual/dual' but not totaly sure. Anyway...at ls1tech.com they had sound clips of 'firehawk' and ws6 slp exhaust. some had headers, etc., and some sound clips have stock manifolds... It is not overly quite like a normal stock muffler but it did sound real good. (i know these are v8 sound clips...) I compared the 'firehawk' SLP exhaust clips to other exhaust clips like LM and magnaflow, etc... the firehawks clips did not have the popping and high pitched "WHAWHAM" from rapid throttle revs. it mainly sounded deep.

I do want to hear this muffler on a v6.

Just a heads up, this guy is selling more of these, and their going cheap (you can probably grab one for less then $30). Just cut the cat off, and go all 3". If you can weld, you can probably do it all for less than $60. Not too shabby if it sounds as good as he says.

got a laptop? If you were close I would record for you.

Ask about the laptop because if you did it would ve VERy easy to record a clip.

My roommate has a laptop, I just dont have a good enough microphone to pick up the tone well. However, I'm probably going home this weekend and my friend's dad has a DVD Camcorder and I will have a video with sound most likely by Sunday if I go home. Will keep you posted.
