I installed the custom CAI today, not HUGE gains, but a more responsive feel and some hp increase throughout the entire range... a good mod for 40 bucks, maybe even 100... but 200 is steep for the gains, but you're paying for the "finished look" but I think mine looks pretty good.

I would take pics, but we have not invested in a digital camera yet, and getting pictures developed is a pain =P
but imagine silver dryer duct work instead of the stock air piping... thats all you can see in the engine compartment... then I ran it down to underneath where the stock airbox went and just sat it there... Im brainstorming now on how to keep it from bouncing around, but I dont want to drill holes in the already flimsy undercovering for the car... any ideas guys?

Pop rivet a piece of sheet metal with a whole cut in it for youre hose beneath where youre air box used to be. If you can put a flange on the underside of that and some how clamp both the filter and the hose to the piece of sheet metal that should solve the problem.97 T-top firebird Gone but not forgotten!
In process of Modding a 02 Grand Am
\"Dont hunt what you cant kill!\" :>

i just made my own, i directed 93v6firebird on how to make one. i will post pics as soon as my car comes back from the shop. all i did was i got a 4inch wide and 8 ft. long expandible dryer hose. make sure it is heat resistent, the one i got was aluminum. make sure it is 4inch because i reused the rubber 90degree bend that connects to the tb itself and leave the sensors in it and the other end of that rubber 90bend is 4inch so it will fit snugly on. than get a K&N universal cone airfilter with a 4inch inlet. now when taking the stock stuff out take the hard plastic pipe that connects to the 90bend rubber piece and goes into your air box, take that peice out including you stock air box. than there is a piece of plastic aside of where the stock air box was on the side of the driver side. take that out also. you might have to use some force to take that out but you have to so you have room to fit the piping through there. you will see the hole underneath where the stock air box was. that is where you filter goes down into. it is ribbed in the front of the plastic peice underneath your car that lets air come into there so you get air to the filter. connect both ends of the dryer hose to your filter and your 90bend in front of the tb. you can use different things to connect them. i used bigger sized metal band that screws down to tighten it. there is one on the stock assembly but it is too small to reuse it so you have to get 2 of them that will fit. hope this helps. if you have anymore questions just ask.1996 Chevy Camaro SS
#67 of 2,410 made that year with the slp package
Street Lethal Fbody Association Member
http://www.cars-on-line.com/97cam11475.html

you can not get the filter in from the top, you must take the bottom of the car loose and slide the entire assembly through the hole and place the air filter down on the plastic undercovering thing...
also... the part number for teh filter is RU-2510
and you must get a piece of pvc pipe to put in the filter and clamp, then put the dryer hose over that and clamp it, or else you'll have problems getting the dryer hose on the 4" filter... that or buy a smaller filter, but then you have to modify teh piping.. I just perfered the small peice of PVC...
