  • My borla experience on a v6

Ok, just installed my catback on my 02 firebird v6

all of the plates besides the closed, and smallest hole after closed suck and sound ricey when you're above 3,000rpms

i put the closed plate in, and noticed a fairly big performance gain, but the exhaust sounded near stock.. only one pipe is being used, the other one is blocked off so nothing comes out the tip

the second to closed plate sounds good and has a little performance gain.. when you floor it in first it get raspy, but after that its nicee.. when im taching in 3rd or 4th gear it sounds great

over all i'd use one of these 2 plates
\'02 firebird 5spd manual (pewter)<br />mods: whisper lid, spintech muffer with 3\" piping, strut tower brace, \"free ram air\", k&n filter, SLP CAI - next mods: jetchip stage II, lowering springs

Since you bought a Borla you probably want to get a 3" Catco and Headers also. This will give you a really nice sound. It will lower the pitch and you will be happy. It will also give you more HP :D I just ordered my CIA headers and 3" catco and I can't wait to install it.

My Borla has no plate on it. What's the point of spending all that money if you can't hear it? It looks nice but you also want to hear it. I recommend the open plate. If you have a good intake set up and all the other exhaust accesories you will be happy.

Which one gives a better sound, but also the best performance. B&B Triflow or Borla? I don't want my car sounding like rice, but I also want some performance gain from it.

give the muffler time to break in... mostly all mufflers sound like garbage brand new.

also, let the engine warm up before you make judgments. when i start driving my car cold..the exhaust sounds like ****, but after about 5 min of drivng..sounds mucn much much nicer with no rice.

Has anybody tried to make a plate smaller than the smallest hole plate and use that instead of a full block off? I am going to try whenever I get a chance.

-Good Advice........The sound will definitly improve over time as the muffler breaks in.
