• Pacesetters, 3" Offroad Pipe / Firehawk Muffler Sound Clips Inside!

I finally found someone with a decent setup to record a couple soundclips, and I will have more coming soon of my driving by at full blast and also some interior sounds driving, but for now here are two clips.

Clip 1: Idle and two small revs

Clip 2: Continuous rev from idle to 4000rpms (in park it won't let me rev about that), the sound at the end of the rev is when it blocks the rpms from going higher. The whining sound is yet to be tracked down, it's prob the belt or the alternator crapping out as usual, I wish it was a blower

I could use someone to host this if anybody is willing..

thats sounds real good to me.

it sounds like it is the same muffler i was listening to over on ls1.com (firehawk/ws6 slp)

not as crazy as my magnaflow at higher rmps. yours also seems deeper like it is actually somewhat of a muffler. lol

thanks for taking the time to get the clips up. much appreciated.

i think i see one in my future.

Yes, I'd like a high revving sound clip too. Drive by a friend holding your sound recorder at WOT or something.

Just be careful not to hurt anyone in the process

my firehawk muffler just arrived today. I will be putting it up in the car to see what and how to make it hook up to my current magnaflow lt1 over axle pipe.

looking at this new muffler compared to the magnaflow i can see why it would be quiter and deeper. I plan on detailing the differences with cheesey graphics to illustrate.

both of the dual outs on the slp firehawk muffler pass through perf tubes and there is also a phase tube at the end of the main inlet. (deeper tone) passenger side out does a U bend about halfway down the muffler (all perf tube) and then comes back to exit out the passenger side of muffler. the drivers side out travels down just past half way of the muffler and then does a Z bend (all perf tube) before it exits out the drives side of muffler. At 3" in and dual 2.5" out it still breaths pretty good (and better than stock for sure)
The magnaflow tranverse mufflers are quite a bit different (and most likely louder) right at the 3" inlet there is a curved baffle that directs half of the exhaust flow directly out the passenger side tail pipe. (un muffled...sorta like a borla system) the other half of the exhaust flow travels at a slight (but straight) angle down the length of the muffler (per tube) and straight out to the drivers side tail pipe. This is free very free flowing but it is also very loud at higher rpms. not much rasp...but pretty darn loud.

the more bends you have in a muffler the slower the exhaust flow. the slower the exhaust flow the lower the volume. the slower the exhaust flow the less efficient (at moving gas) the muffler is. I think this is a good trade off though with the slp firehawk/ws6 muffler. it sounds real good on the v8 cars and i get a sense of the same thing from choney's clips.

for the price of this muffler / tailpipe combo on ebay it is still cheaper than ordering most fancy mufflers individually so i won't mind it if i need to pay a muffler dude a few bucks to make it all fit with my current system.

thanks again for the find choney2003

Dude! thanks for the heads up on this muffler. just what the docor ordered.

fat 3" in with dual outs but MUCH more quiet than my magnaflow that came with the LT1 kit. don't get me wrong...the magnaflow sounded real tough and all but i am self concious about sporting around with a loud car. I was able to hook it up to the over azle pipt that was already on the car from the magnaflow catback. I had to 'modify' the exhaust pipes that came welded on the firehawk muffler but i got it all up and on. I'll be taking the four tail pipes i have now to my welder dude for final welding. sounds great.

Not a problem at all, if you could, would you post a soundclip of yours? I'd love to hear it with the blower! :D

I know. i have posted pretty much everything else about his car on my website but i can't seem to hook up a sound clip. i would make a kick *** video too. i don't have a portable computer to make a sound file while driving. one of these days i will buy a long extension cable for microphone and park the car in my back yard nearest the computer room and do some revs.

It basicaly just sounds quiet compared to normal high flow mufflers. much like the sound clip you provided. nice and deep but they don't hear me coming in the next county.

deeper than the stocker from the factory too. It has been wet so i have not been able to test the blower psi level. if the muffler is constricting the system then my psi will go up. I don't think it is though. car is still hela fast.
