I thought about getting a cold air intake and a cam,but I get into my friends 3.8 camaro with full exhaust, cam, intake, pulleys and he even said it was all a waste of a lot of money. I think I will spend my money on making my car look good. Some day maybe a V8 transplant. My friend with the 3.8 after spending all that dead money on parts he is looking for a smashed Z28 to do the 350 transplant. So take this advice for what it's worth. I'm not saying not to go buy a nice exhaust for your car but I guess I just expected a lot more out of it.EDDY MACLEAN

With a stock intake, you will barely notice any difference with an upgraded exhaust. If the engine can't get any more air in, what's the point of having an exhaust that flows more? $600 for headers with stock intake is not only a waste, but borderline stupid.
I spent about $600 for my whole exhaust. $300 installed for cat+catback and $300 for headers (installed myself). I'm very happy with it, and definitely noticed a difference...but I waited until after I did my intake.Matt

$250 headers, $0 install (did it myself), $60 hi flow cat, $0 install (did with headers and had a friend weld it), $410 loudmouth, $0 install (did it myself) What's the point? INSTALL **** YOURSELF!!! PANZY! Anywho, I notifced a huge differnce with the loudmouth and I noticed a difference with the headers and cat too. If you did it all at the same time and didn't notice a difference, something is wrong with your car.\'99 SSM Camaro V6 M5
(mod list on cardomain site; too long to list here)
http://www.cardomain.com/id/v6cam99

I believe the American Thunder is 2.5". Hardly an upgrade at all. I put a 2.5" American thunder cat-back on my car as the 1st mod. no intake and I STILL noticed a gain....
After intake and gears/posi I added headers and upgraded to 3" exhaust. No change down low, but pulled better up high. HUGE sound difference.

Why are nearly all LS1 catbacks 3"? Does the extra 1.9L of displacement and better VE not matter?Matt
2000 Firebird

FullThrottleV6.com

Well correct me if im wrong but adding headers slows your bottom end a bit but increases your top end. That could cause a false feeling of no change. Just changing your muffler to a high performance one will increase you 6 hp alone. You really should have your car dynoed when you add extensive mods so you know exactly what its doing for you so u can use it to its fullst extent.

Header design is a little more complicated than that... depends on the diameter and length of the primaries, among other things.Matt
2000 Firebird

FullThrottleV6.com
