  • MY thoughts/experience Stock vs. unhooked vs. cutout.

Basically not sure if it helps just mentioning if it helps anyone.

    Stock

well its stock you get the point.

Unhooked stock exhaust at the factory point. Loud, inside and outside the car. I ran my best times like this at the strip, best of a 14.4 with unhooked exhaust, belt, and intake. Best of a 14.7 with the belt on and unhooked exahaust and intake.

It sucked in lower RPMs, and killed the midrange but had peppy power up top. I only drag raced like this, when I autocrossed, I ran stock exhaust, it was better since you could be in midrange rpms, and you need power throughout the band.

    Cutout on factory exhaust.

Sweet setup, its kinda loud outside I think quiter then unhooked, definitly quieter in the car. Its mounted towards the rear of the door. The actual spot is the space between the rear seats floor and the dip in the bucket, the floor pan has a big dip leaving a big space I had it mounted there, easy access, no rattles or rubs.

Very good midrange, lots of power throughout the band, not sure if I lost anything up top but if I did doesn't feel like too much. I haven't tried it at the dragstrip but I really like the feel of it. Great for driving around town, and in autocross/roadrace. And best of all cheap.

Also the sound is alot better then an open exhaust, so I think, seems like it has more of a rumble/gurgle then when I had an open exhaust. Still think 99v6cam's setup is probably louder, and sounds better. but its a good cheap setup I reccomend.
