• raspy flowmaster?

Ok, just had a 2 chamber flowmaster (don't know what series)installed on my 2000 bird 3.8, sounds a bit too raspy for my taste. Well my friend has a 97 bird with a 3.4 and a 3 chamber flowmaster (not sure what series but he gave me the stock number 42383). But his old 3.4 with older flowmaster sounds sooo much better than mine, his sounds like a freakin v8. Does anyone have any idea what he is using, or can tell me which flowmaster will give me that v8 sound?

40 or 80 series give you the not so nasty sound...80 primarily

The 3.4 60* engines usually will sound better than our 90* 3.8 . I think that motorcycles use the 90* flow and we know what they sound like. My car sounds much like my brother's bike above 2K Rpms :(

Well..My Flowmaster sound has changed nicely over time (burn-in), getting deeper and less raspy...I don't know what series mine is either but it has 3 inch tips and I like how it sounds...

Ok, so there is a "burn in" time. I've heard recently you can shove a garden hose into the muffler turn on the cold water and break the fiberglass packing giving it a more deeper tone.

thats with glasspacks, not chamber mufflers, there's steel chambers inside of it, not 'glass

I have the 80 series, that one was designed with f-bodies in mind. A friend of mine also has it on his 3800 '98 Camaro, and I'd agree that it sounds better on the 3.4. That sound seems to stay deep and throaty up into higher rpms than on the 3800 engines. Oh, and according to flowmaster, the 80 series is the loudest you can get.

I have the 80 series on mine and I love it! I'm wondering if my K&N filter helps the sound at all?
