  • heat resistance tape & slp cai?

in my jegs catalog under exhaust there is heat resistance tape for headers thats supposed to keep the heat from the exhaust from radiating out.. so basicaly wut its doing is keeping the heat from escaping the pipes...
my question is would this tape work in reverse.. by wrapping the slp cai in this tape would u prevent the tubes from heating up being that they are black, and do absorb heat and they are under the hood cooking...? or if not tape does anyone have any other ideas on how to keep those cai pipes cool?

I think you shouldn't worry about it too much. If you did find a way to keep the slp cai cool the air is still going to be hot when it gets into the engine.

      Wrap insulation around it.

drive your car for a while, then feel your CAI, it should be cool, hence the whole part about COLD air intake. The only think youll be doing by wrapping your cai is making it ugly.

Leave it to the apperance moderator, to comment on the look. ;)

I think I would keep it cool, but the cost for the tape compared to the negligible hp gain. It wouldnt be worth the cost of the tape. Save your money for a better mod.

Or buy the tape, get an Autotap and do some test and run some numbers, if you can prove it to actually make a difference I would be the second to adopt it.
