ya you do need that backpressure, well for the 1/4 anyways, I hear its better for the top-end to have it before the cat...hmm maybee get 2...one after that cat which you leave open on takeoff, then open the one before the cat for more top end power :D or put it before your cat and have a restrictor on it of some sort.....oh and would it void the warranty if it goes before the cat??

How did you get the cutout installed? I got the same one and nobody would install it because it was illeagul. I then had a friends dad try to weld it but we couldnt because it was cast iron. So who installed it and how? I also tried to clamp it but it wouldnt slip over or under my stock pipes. I have no idea how to install this and nobody would for me so I got 3 inch mandrel bent i pipe and 3 inch mandrel bent tailpipes with 3.5 inch crome angle cut tips. I like the setup I have better then a cutout. But really how did you install it?

Dude, seriously.... give it up. A cutout before the cat WILL NOT render a faster 1/4th time. If it would, everyone would put it before the cat instead of after. Do you have a cutout before your cat? If so, how can you make any claims. Placing a cutout before the cat will basically reduce almost all backpressure, and therefore will eliminate tons of low-end torque, which will make your 60' and maybe even 1/8th times noticeably lower. The top-end gain wouldn't be enough to makeup for that. Deal with it

That's odd. Any muffler shop around here will install it without problems. If they give you sh*t, just be like "Well look a$$, it's not illegal unless it's opened. I only plan on opening it at the damn dragstrip, so therefore it won't be illegal, so stfu and install the damn thing."

Nope, it won't.

i hate how people say do this this way and its faster for the 1/4. how can someone who doesnt even have the part say it works better in one spot than another, tim i doubt you will ever run 13s let alone 12.6 im sure james knows the best place to put it considering he HAS the cutout

Not to mention he doesn't even have a F-body, let alone a cutout.

In your Grand Prix eh? Yeah, ok, lets see some pics and timeslips! And if you really do, maybe you'd run a 12.8 if you put it after your cat :D

Actually that video of me running is through the full exhaust.
The cut out was closed.
That is how my v6 w/ full exhaust sounds on nitrous.
I'm not a fan of the cut out.
On the old motor and nitrous I dynoed it w/ and w/o the cut out cap on.
Cut out cap open 282 rwhp and 335 rwtq
Cut out cap closed 291 rwhp and 362 rwtq.
These runs were done back to back in that order.
RK sport headers, gutted cat, cut out and edlebrock cat back.
I have since ditched the gutted cat and put on a catco high flow cat.
My cut out location is after the cat but before the muffler.
The v6 (in my opinion) needs some back pressure.
For my car I have track times and dyno proof.
Never bothered w/ n/a though
