I bought an exhaust cutout from JCwhitney for $20, plus 15 shipping. It was installed for 30. Not very expensive, but the sound difference on my car is little to none. The only difference i notice, is when i slam on the gas hard. Other than that, its pretty much the same. It was installed right after the cat. I'm hoping the minimal increase in gas mileage that its supposed to give will ease my concerns about this wasted money, lol.

Yeah man, you sure you're opening the cutout? You sure the plate on the inside didn't break off the switch or something, so that when the switch flips, the plate flips with it? I can't possibly see how you couldn't notice any difference. Everyone I know with a cutout says it's loud as hell, and rumbles like a b*tch at idle.
Either way, I'm glad I didn't buy that JC Whitney cutout :D I was considering it till I had a few people tell me I shouldn't get it over at CZ28.com... I ordered a FlowTech instead, should get here this week actually! :DKyle M
--------------
2002 Trans Am WS6 (silver, A4) - lid, cutout, stage 3 shift kit, 12 bolt, vig 3200, tranny cooler, bmr sfc/stb, torq thrust ii. 12.688 @ 106.47mph -=- 1.756 60\'

by the way my mods are functional SS Ram air hood, flowmaster exhaust and some other stuff that wouldn't affect how loud that cutout gets.1998 Sport Metallic Gold Camaro
Current Mods
AIWA CD/MP3 player
Flowmaster exhaust
Dual 3.5\" chrome exhaust tips
Removed Front Grill
Functional RAM AIR, ss-style hood
Exhaust Cutout
Future Mods:
Leather Seats
Improved audio system
Different wheels
Indiglo gauges
http://hometown.aol.com/saturn2187/

Any of you have a sound file for the cut out. I tried the search thing :( I'm really debating getting it as long as it is really loud \'02 Corvette Z06

My cutout on my '94 was pretty damn loud. Sounded like it had Flowmasters, no cat, lol. BTW, I had a Dynomax Super-Turbo 3" cat-back.2001 Onyx Black Camaro M5-Totalled
2005 Ford F150 XLT 5.4L

\"To make peace, prepare for war.\"

i see no purpose putting it after the cat. you want the least amount of time for the gas to get out of the system. if you just want a loud car, get a loud exhuast system. my flowmaster cat back is pretty loud.\'96 Quasar Blue Firebird A4
jamiethekiller@comcast.net
my band: woodland

On our cars, I believe it's also important to keep SOME back pressure in there for day to day driving. Ask any exhuast shop, they will tell you the same. Do it after the cat, and you can leave it open more often without going deaf, but still have a louder sound than stock. I love mine, and it's right before the muffler.www.fullthrottlev6.com THE SOURCE!

You are still bypassing the muffler though. With a 6 you still want SOME backpressure. My flowmasters are loud and deep...but a cutout at WOT is loud as f***! (kris aka "slacker69" has headers and a cutout just before the muffler, thats what I'm basing it on)
