Purchasing new Exhasut System, need advice...

Ok, I want to purchase a new exhaust system for my 94 3.4L Camaro. I have changed my exhaust 5 times to be honest. My current set-up is a 2.5 inch pipe with a Magnaflow Muffler with Z28 tips.

I used to have an entire 3 inch set-up:

High Flow 3' Inch Catalytic Converter
3 Inch Piping
Flowmaster Muffler with 3 Inch exhaust tips.

I used to LOVE the way my car used to sound back then. Very mean, sounded loud as hell, and people used to think it was a V8.

Unfortunately, I live in the state of California, in the smogy city of Los Angeles. Got pulled over by cops, was told that I had an illegal set-up.

Anyway, I was thinking of getting the loudmouth exhaust or something similar that will remain within state and local law. Any suggestions? I've heard that the loudmouth was actually louder than the flowmaster. Thanks for any advice.

If your flowmaster system was illegal, then I'd put money on it that loudmouth would be illegal too... b/c the loudmouth system doesn't have a true muffler... it's just a resinator. From what I've heard Cali is really strick on emissions. So I'd say go w/ a V8 take off muffler and put an electric cut out for when you want it loud ;)

I agree with the cutout. Loud when you want it and quiet for the cops. Loudmouth is way louder than flowmaster so I wouldn't recommend it to you.

I will go ahead and suggest Hooker =). It's 3" all the way around and sounds best below 2K RPM's and above 4K RPM's. Cruising at 60-65(1.5K RPM) you don't hear it, sounds stock. I don't have anything to record sound clips with so it might be difficult to believe me.

The tips leave a little to be desired but, meh, better than stock.

See, I really don't care about how loud it can sound. I'd rather have the performance and very little sound. Hooker so far sounds the best option. I just don't want to go through putting it on and then having to remove it later because it's too loud and considered not to be street legal. Thanks for the feedback.

I second the hooker suggestion. Very nice price too. Buy the 93-95 LT1 so you'll get everything you need (S bend).

The hooker is quiet at lower speeds, but you can definitely tell its no where near stock and it is LOUD when you get on it.

can you put exhaust systems that are made for lt1s, or v8s on a v6? does it make a difference? ive wondered if you can put these systems on a v6, or is it just made for a v8. Thanks.

Ya, that's exactly the type of exhaust system I am looking for. Quiet when cruising, but loud when it needs to be. Can I get a part number from a place where I can purchase it and a list of all the things I'll need. Thanks.

I got mine from Jegs.com. Just get the LT-1 setup and you are good to go. The only thing you'll need is a 3" in/out cat.

Hey guys, I have a magna muffler which I use my stock pipes which is 2.5 right (correct me if I'm wrong)? I wish I got a cat-back, I didn't know much when I got my muffler. A guy that owned a muffler shop told me that using my stock pipes are fine.

But my question is, can I make my magna muffler into a full catback system? Can I just get the piping that connects to my cat to make it a complete catback exhaust system? Please help me out guys, thank you!
