Ok. I went ahead and took my car to the exhaust shop I always use to have the cat cut off. When I was able to handle the cat after it cooled down, I noticed that the guts were spilling out. The mechanic said I had good timing because the cat was about shot anyway. So, he cuts the cat at the I pipe, welds a 8 or 9 inch piece of 3" pipe pointing down and to the right so my exhaust exits under the passenger seat, but shoots out from the car. He welded my O2 sensor to a jam nut and welded the nut to the new pipe. NO codes showing yet. It feels like I have lost a very small amount of low end power, but my midrange is a WHOLE lot better! It is so loud that I actually jumped in my seat the first time I nailed it :D (windows down, t-tops off) I have a new Catco laying around the house I plan to put on if I don't like the sound, but so far, so good! Best $50 I've spent so far!

Wait so your telling me you just ran a pipe to the side from the y-pipe, no muffler or anything? Yea it's loud, but IMO it sounds like crap man, I have a muffler on the end of my Y right now and it sounds really good and decent. Im worried about getting pulled over and being found without a cat. I don't know how you could drive your car around like that, you'd get pulled over eventually for sure.

I drove all over the plave today. I even stopped by and showed TriFlo99. SEVERAL cops drove by me without even looking at me. Cops around here are really cool about stuff like that. As for the sound, I am dissappointed. It sounded better with no muffler but with the cat. I'm going back tomorrow and explore my options. I might leave the cat off and put a 40 series on. my exhaust guy said we could try different things until I found something I liked.

http://www.cardomain.com/id/nitroxxx28

Maybe im the only one who caught this.. He welded on your O2 SENSOR??? You do realize that now you will not be able to removed it unless its cut off. I also hope that sparking the weld directly on the sensor didnt damage anything. You will be one of the next people to invest in an O2 Simm im sure....2002 Maple Red Firebird V6
3.73 w/ LSD | Pro-5.0 Shifter | Fan Switch | Tach w/ Shiftlite | Boost and Fuel Pressure Gauge | Bilstein Shocks & 1LE Springs | 1LE 32mm Bar & Poly Bushings, Poly Tranny Mount and Torque Arm Bushing | BMR LCA\'s | Catco 3\" Cat w/ Edlebrock 5509 Muffler, (all 3\") | Corbeau A4 Seats (Pair) |
http://forums.fakeleg.com
http://cv6.fakeleg.com - Part & Repair Manuals and write-ups.
