RK Sport Lid/IAT Help

I recently bought a RK Sport lid from a fellow member of this board. One small problem though. The hole in the lid is bigger than the plastic piece the IAT sensor plugs into.

I heard from him and a few others that thier cars come stock with a rubber gromet that screws out of the stock hose comming from the stock lid and fits perfectly in the big hole in the RK lid. Mine doesn't, its only the plastic piece that slides into an unremovable hole in the hose off the stock lid.

I was thinking of rigging it up, possibly using rubber washers? Anybody been in this situation or have an easier solution? Thanks in advance.

luke, this baffles me and i feel bad selling you something that is giving you trouble. is there any way you can get a picture of your sensor and stock lid? why is your car so different?

No sweat man, I'll figure something out. Heck I might even run up to the Chevy parts department and see if I can get one of the rubber gromets (part # anyone?). Here are a few pics if you can make them out.

Yes, there is a rubber grommet...but mine came with the lid. The lid grommet is starting to crack, so i'm going to need a new one soon. Let me know if you get that part #. Thanks

Well it may not be pretty, but its a major improvement over the PVC coupler [img]smile.gif[/img] A 1/2 inch rubber (fender) washer and some super glue did the trick, hasn't thrown an SES and I doubt it will.

ok i can see the pictures here now at work. thats wierd you plug it into the flexible tubing on the stock lid. i think i remember mine being plugged into the lid itself. well, i am glad you got it to work. btw, how does it feel? vast improvement on acceleration i am sure?

Not all IAT connections were in the lid it self. I have a 99 camaro and my IAT connection was in the the flexable bend also. I had to find a grommet to work on my lid as well....

Yeah, on the GM service manual, it actually shows it going into the air silencer.

There's no grommet in the service manual for the V6 (wrong!?), but for the V8, which uses the same IAT, the grommet is shown and is part # 24604388
