Does a Lid Make Much Difference on a V6?

Does an Air Lid make much noticible difference in power on a V6 all by its self with no other mods?

How about Lid & cat back together with nothing else done? ...much real noticible power gain?

Yes, removing the silencer is where you will see an immidiate difference

Doing the free ram air mod will help as well.

also, I recommend cutting the radiator shroud with it still in the car, just be careful.

I had my 99 Firebird actually ON a dyno when I installed the Whisper Lid. No other mods. Before, horsepower was 151...a little low for a 3.8, but not out of the ballpark. After, hp increased to 160...about what it SHOULD have been to start with.
So I would say the lid was a worthwhile mod.

Bang for the buck, the Intake / Exhaust mod will get you the most gain for the dollar as compared to any other mod, aside from the SC & NOS.

Get it, and get it quick, you'll really be happy about the gains that you'll see / feel.

Air Lid, Holley Air Filter, Raised Air box 6mm or so, and FRA - the best bang for the buck when combined with exhaust.

Yup. Whisper Lid and K&N air filter.

Later I added the SLP cold air induction, didn't dyno it that time...but it did knock a couple tenths off the track time I ran with the Lid alone.

The most bang for the buck is in the intake and the exhaust, and that is a fact. You can screw around and raise the box, but you really need to go all the way, and do free ram air. Cut the bottom right out of the air box. When you can see the pavement looking down the bottom of the air box you are there. I took only 1"x12" out of the plastic air dam under the air box. I had my exhaust system redone when the car was two weeks old. I use Mobile One, and the filter to match. I burn 89 octaine gas. I now have 15k miles on the car. It started to run very smooth, and very fast at 13k miles.
I know I have said this in a number of posts, but it works for me.
