I have a buddy of mine putting in my SLP CAI Since I am away on business.....Its a 96 3.8
He keeps calling me saying that the CAI does not fit right...That the edge of the CAI is hitting the TB....
is this common? I thought this was a direct bolt on? I will be home this coming Friday so I will stop by and look at the setup myself but if anyone has experienced this please chime in

It's a very tight fit installing the SLP CAI. I have a 97 Camaro and had to squeeze the 2 filter down into the well, messing up the filters a little. But that was the only way. I don't see how it would be hitting the throttle body though...Hopefully he's not trying to install it with the filters facing upwards lol. Just tell him it's a tight fit and he'll get it in there.
i thought it was a very easy install, and i had almost no problem fitting it in there. theres an order to putting the pieces in, and i cant remember what it is really off hand, but its pretty logical when youre sitting there looking at it.
is it the metal, actual intake part hitting the TB? if you put in the 1le elbow first, then play with the metal tubing trying to get it into the elbow's other end, and sliding the double piece down into the well, i dont see how there should be much problem.
I finally got home long enough to go over and see the car and the SLP CAI.....
The problem is that last year I bought this thing used which is fine but it did not come with an elbow. I guess he thought it would have more room than it does...I need to find the elbow for this setup or do a custom one........
I may need to do a custom setup anyways because I intend to do an LS1 MAF conversion.
Thanks Guys
Eric

Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
