• Not loud exhaust

Well i know i said that i wasn't going to do exhaust, but o well. I want to do exhaust, but i don't want it to loud at all. I am not saying that i want it to sound stock by any means, i just don't want something that is loud. So i was wondering what i should do? Should i just order a muffler like the SLP on www.ftpp.com , i am thinking i should do that cause i don't have alot of money to spend and i don't want something that is loud, so i figure that is my best option. O yeah and do i need to order tips with the muffler when i buy it? Cause the only other exhaust that i can think of that won't be loud would be the Z28 take off, but i have no idea where to get that and how, you can only get it used right?

if SLP still offers them, get a V8 takeoff. they're about the quietest (other than stock) that you can get.

I would agree with RallyRed. You can also find stock v8 exhausts on E-bay or other message boards easily.

Yup Z-28 take off is the quietest. I was in the same boat. Performance wise it will not be that big of a difference. Just really for looks if you get a take off. If you can go a bit louder, get the Dynomax Super Turbo. Sounds great and is just a little louder then stock. Not much though. It will give it actual performance. I had a Dynomax then changed to the take off and it was a big drop. I didn't get planted in my seat anymore :(

casketcrewchick, what size inlet/outlet is your cat? Have you had any SES light problems with the stock o2 sensors or are you running o2 sims?

I absolutely love my SLP takeoff exhaust. It sounds great to me. Like a flowmaster catback, only much quieter. I did notice a small gain in performance and a small jump in my fuel economy. I would recommend it to anybody. I wish I had sound clips for ya. How would it sound to change the muffler to a dynomax turbo muffler? I might like the bigger jump in performance. Also, how would a high flow cat help it sound? Sorry to hijack the thread, but I though I would put in my 2 cents.

The sound will be noticeably louder. When I had the Dynomax, you could hear the drone on long trips going like 70-75. With the take off, you could barely hear it. So it will be just a bit louder, but performance wise the Dynomax blows it away since it is more free flowing. It will plant you in your seat. I felt really disappointed when I switched to the take off. I did it cause my parents used my 2000 for traveling (they payed for it) so I could not do much. But this 98 I just got is all mine So the Dynomax is definatley going back on.

Is there anywhere to buy the Z28 take off besides post boards and ebay? And should i just get the muffler for the Dynomax Super Turbo...or do they offer a whole system?

Why go to a take offs when you can go to a free flowing exhaust like Dynomax?.?

The takeoffs can be bought from SLP, just you might it cheaper on the boards. I got mine for 25 bucks. The Dynomax I would recommend to get from JEGS. It is just the muffler. They offer whole catbacks, just they are really expensive. Even with just the muffler it will suffice for awhile.

So you get more power from just a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler than you get from the whole Z28 take off system? Or am i confused and the Z28 take off is just a muffler, and not all the pipeing?

The Z28 take off will vary. If it says catback yes, the whole piping from the cat to the muffler will come. If it is just a take off, then it just a muffler. Differences between just the mufflers, the Dynomax will outflow it. In terms of comparing them when they are both catbacks, the Dynomax will still outflow.
