Now that I have found a shop willing to do aftermarket cat work I am looking into which converter to get. Magnaflow/Carsound has "OBD II Compliant" catalytic converters. What would make a converter OBD II compliant? It's not the cat that makes OBD II cars OBD II, it is the sensor after the cat and the computer, or at least that's what I always thought. So anyway, I can not get an SES light, I would be totally screwed for emissions testing and would be forced to go back to the stock set-up, which would waist a lot of money, and I don't have money to waist. So do I need to get one of these OBD II converters in order to be safe? A lot of people have told me to stay with the stock set-up because I will get a light with an aftermarket cat, but then a few people on here said they haven't gotten a light.

    Thanks guys

You can get an O2 Sim that plugs into the after cat sensor to make the light go away.

I can't use an o2 sim. If they find out its an o2 sim, I fail. However, the other day I was thinking of something. I know you can use PCM reprogrammers and stuff to help out the computer with compensating for exhaust, intake, rear-end gears and stuff like that. Would you be able to use one of those in order to let the computer know you have a different cat so it knows that the effects of the increased exhaust flow is not a problem, and therefore not causing an SES light? Maybe I should post that as a seperate topic?

HPTuners allows you to turn off the post cat O2 SES entirely.

So yes you would need to swap to a 97 PCM and turn the ses off and just not worry about it.

Shane has a 97 pcm and software/cable for sale for 450 which is a great deal!
