  • 96 to 98 intake conversion

What would I have to do to change from my 96 intake to the 98 intake? I dont think clearance will be an issue since I allready have an aftermarket hood. I would think that the 98 intake and a whisper lid would work a lot better than just getting the slp cai for my car since it's a straight path and the maf screen can be removed. Another possibility would be to make my ram-air hood functional with the 98 intake. What do you think? Would it be a good idea to switch intakes or would it be best to just get a cai?

The only difference between the 97 and 98 intakes is the air intake and the hood clearance. Just buy the 98 CAI and whisper lid and bottom part of the lid too from SLP or used. Everything else is the same. Dont worry about a ram air setup. I tried that w/ the 96 ws6 hood and air box. The engine started acting all funny, sputtering and bouncing off the rev limiter before shifting gears. And yes I did re-set the pcm.

Simple answer is yes, but with a lot of other work, such as new TB and PCM.

Please do a Search, as this has already been discussed in numerous threads.
