  • High flow or no cat?

    Which one will sound better?
Which one will provide more power?
Which one will have better gas mileage?

I hear hi-flow cats actually work pretty similar to if you had no CAT. Either way both will make your existing setup sound better and one will cause liek 1000x's more pollution then the other.

but no cat at all is about a 1000x more cheaper than a hi-flow cat

yep it is. I am gonna try a setup one day, but with my recent legagl problems its being put off. I wanna see how a straight pipe, then a 2.75 in. stock z28 CATback runs on my car.

I've asked someone about high flow cats, someone that builds on drag cars. He says just take the cat off, there wont be a difference if you put on a high flow cat. its meant for cars that are barely street legal.

I've heard on here that our stock cats are pretty much a high flow cat. Only thing wrong with it is that there's only a 2 1/4" pipe coming out of the back of it.
I recently gutted my cat and wrapped it around a 3" pipe. This is the real way to go if you want power and better efficency. However it is illegal and if your running the muffler I am, it will sound like complete crap. Not sure what exactly rpms it is but somewhere from 3,000 to 4,000 on up to redline, it sounds horrible. Then when you shift and the rpms drop rapidly it sounds even worse.

The gas mileage seems to have improved a little but really haven't been able to tell. I've already hit 32mpg on a few trips so I'm not sure how much better I can get it. I raced a friend who was pulling on my in 3rd and now he doesn't do that any more.

Just my thoughts and oppinions along with the oppinions of many others out at the track tonight that commented that it sounded horrible(mainly while shifting).
