• k&n air filter smell...

question 1- I just put in a k&n filter in my car. Soon as I put it in i let my car idle for 5 minutes then I drove it to work, had no problems. After work I took a friend home, so I drove the car a total of 25 miles. When I got home there was a slight smell of something burning. I figured it was the filter because it has the oil on it, you think that could be it? My gauges said my temperature wasn't hot, oil pressure was normal, everything seemed fine.

question 2- I read before than a k&n filter can "whistle" so to speak. How long does it make this noise?

Any help to any of these questions is appreciated, I'm kinda new to all of this car stuff, I drove an 88 Pontiac Bonneville for a while until last week when I bought the Firebird. Thanks again guys...

The whistle is the air going in with less restriction thats a good sound. will stay as long as you keep your filter clean ;)

I agree with that one, do you know for sure it's the filter?
