• *K*nightRider (adam) need info on ghetto intake :)

I was thinking about doing your HD intake and was wondering if you can describe what to do with the sensor a bit more.. maybe if u have a picture of it?

Heh, unless you have one of those cathater mounted cameras that doctors send down peoples throats or up the pee holes, a picture is going to be difficult ;)

Its actually more of a problem of lighting and getting a camera through one small fit, but the sensor is easy to work with in real life.

So what I did was spliced the sensor off and then added in a few feet of wire and put the sensor back on the other end.

I ran this wire along the intake, through thw hole under the original airbox, then up underneath the headlight.

On firebirds, it is easiest to pop-up the headlight so that with th hood open you can reach another hand through farther up than you can on camaros. But on camaros, you have that little excape hatch flap right in front of the front wheel.

I took a zip tie and zipped the sensor to the cable that pops the hood, but anywhere remotely close to the filter and away from the heat of the engine will work fine.

The reason I chose this location was that I figured it would be the closest in temperature compared to stock location. Just get the thing away from radiant engine heat and you'll be good. Oh and has support, i zip tied part of the wire to the abs unit.

If you look on my website, at page two, you can see a few new pics of my engine bay and one of them shows how the sensor wires (long red-sleeved bundle) runs down into the hole.

I always wanted to find a way to mount the sensor closer to stock location cause when its really cold outside, my timing is very advanced (but it did get me a 15.19 on just intake and exhaust on a pre-99 car), but even though it is very strong and flexible, you cant cut through this material because it will rip (imagine a strong parachute, strong until it starts ripping).

Anyway, I know this must look like a bunch of rambling and might now make any sense, so just catch me on AIM of oyu need any more help.

JVT007: I like your laundry hose CAI, its pretty ghetto!

Does it really offer a significant feelable difference in throttle response when you had it added?

You spelled my name wrong...and yes, there is a much greater throttle response and top end with the intake.
