• Response latency problem....

Hi all,

I have a problem and was wondering if any of you has had a similar problem...

I have 3.4 Firebird from '94, I have installed a couple of months ago the cold air intake kit (FIPK was it) from K&N. I felt immediately the horsepower increase, it was amazing, I just kept driving and driving in the city just to accelerate Anyway that was fine the first day, but as of the second day and up until now there's a weird problem.. I have this latency when I push the pedal that I didn't have before... It push the pedal and goes like 'SHoup' as if it sucks out the air from the FIPK buffer and then the rpm starts going up.. Is that normal ? Have you seen something similar before ?

I just cleaned and oiled the filter a couple of days ago thinking it might just be stuck or something but it didn't change the situation..

Man I'm a real noob in car mechanics so I'd really appriciate all help ;)

I just ordered the catback exhaust system from Pacesetter... Heard some quite different oppinions about those too.. Red a review where they compared it to an old russian car noise and I red posts where people say it's pretty good..

All oppinions are more than gladly accepted

Cheers,
tutin

That sucking sound from the K&N FIPK is common. You are hearing the engine pull the air in due to the vacuuum when the throttle plate opens.

As far as the Pacesetter Cat-back, I was not impressed when I heard it, but everyone has their own likes and dislikes on exhaust tone/volume/etc.

But do you think it's normal that the engine reacts slower than before when pushing the pedal ?
