Ceramic coated headers will help reduce under hood temps resulting in a cooler running engine. It is highly recommended that you go for the coating if going through the trouble to get headers.

There's a huge price gap between coated and non-coated headers... are non-coated headers really that harmful for your car?

I wouldn't think they could be harmful. It will increase your engine temp though...maybe only slightly..but it will still increase. If you are going to spend the money on headers and install....you might as well get ceramic coated headers and install them yourself. The job isn't real complicated and can be done in a weekend for the do it yourselfer. I believe most will tell you that the ceramic coating is especially necessary if you are running a poweradder as the exhaust temps skyrocket.

heh, but that's why we invest in lower temp. thermostats and a fan switch...
