I'm planning on getting a cat-back exhaust within the next two months. I'm trying to do as much research as I can and listen to them before I choose.
I have decided to go with a 3". I know the debate on the loss of backpressure, so I'll assume there IS a loss. My question is does a cold air intake help this problem by getting more air in? Will it help or hurt my gas milage as well.
the whole thing w/ doing power mods to your car doesn't affect gas mileage unless you put your car high in the revs all the time. adding power mods puts power lower in the rev range also, so you don't have to rev as high to move the same speed you were before the mods were done.
If you want better mileage but still get a good hp gain to the wheels, get a 1Le aluminum driveshaft and lightweight rims w/ low profile tires. Lowering the cars weight is also good in saving gas since it's easier to move a light thing than a heavy one.
when doing exhaust, it helps to do intake since they compliment each other. That is why I'm gonna do a slp loudmouth exhaust to my car next.
get the whisper lid, ws6 ram air box, ram air hood(make the ws6 box fit and functional), remove the maf screen, and port/polish your throttle body. the throttle body isn't all that important till later in the mods process.
on exhaust, I suggest slp loudmouth cat-back for Z28's and get it custom fit to your car, 3" cat, and headers, in that order.
