  • Ordering a Borla and have questions

I'm a little confused. I've decided on getting a Borla cat-back (ordering it Feb 24, if anyone really cares so I can get it installed over spring break). The question I have is will this come with a S Pipe, or do i have to rig one up? Another question is where can I get it installed? Would any muffler place be able to install the cat-back and do the welding of the s pipe if I need one of those too? Thanks for any info,

    Rob

[Edit]: I've picked up from reading things here that there's a "burn in" period for exhausts. Generally how long does this take?

You might want to e-mail the supplier your ordering from, they will tell you what comes in the borla package. Yeah, any muffler place like Midas or Minekee would be able to do it for you. The burn in process takes a few weeks I think. I had flowmasters and it took about 3 weeks. Hope I helped some.

When I got the Borla it came with everything I needed. We backed the car up on ramps and loosened one piece of suspension and we were able to get the old system off without any cutting. The whole process took all of about 2 hours. If your not up for the install, I think about any shop will put it in for you.

So how hard would something like this be for someone who's never done ANYTHING to a car (other than the below listed) to do on their own (with help of a friend/roommate and maybe someone else who actually know how to do it)? I MIGHT be able to get a hold of any tools I'd need, I'll need to get intouch w/ a frien's mom's fiance who does a lot of car stuff. This brings me to my next question - What equipment would be needed for this? Obviously the ramps/wheel chocks and wrenches/ratchets. Anything else? And my last question for sac2165 (I promise): So it came with an S-Pipe?

        Sorry this is long guys...

It does not come with an s-pipe.
At least the one I got for my '98 did not.

I did replace the s-pipe with 2 sections of pre-bent 45 degree pipe at the same time.

The stock cat has a narrow exit, 2 1/4" I believe, and two sharp turns, that I wanted to eliminate. So I did the cat and the replacement of the s-pipe at the same time as the borla.
