Intermediate Pipe

Ok, I'm getting my Flowmaster cat-back exhaust setup put on next week. Anyways, they told me they would run a "full 3" cat-back system." Would this include the Intermediate Pipe? I'm not even sure where it is located or what it does. Based on other posts, it seems like some people keep it stock and others upgrade. If I'm getting a full 3" cat-back, where does the intermediate pipe come into play?

Thanks alot for the diagram Loochy, that helps out a whole lot. Basically then, I want to get a 3" S-pipe, 3" I-pipe, and then go out the muffler 2.5". The flowmaster 80 series is a 2.5" out muffler so going any bigger wouldn't make any sense for the exhaust pipes.

The Flowmaster catback includes the I-Pipe.
Since you're working with the exhaust, though, it wouldn't hurt to throw in a high flow cat for 50 bucks.
