  • MAFT+ help please.

    97 A4 n/a

I bought MAFT+ off a v6 owner, checked the 4 dip switches and left them alone. Wired up the timing part, soldered my connections, plugged in the MAF part and took the car out with Autotap last night.

First thing I noticed is when I fired up the car I got a code. MAF Sensor Frequency Low or something like that.

Took the car out on some back roads and simulated 1/4 with WOT logging and there was a noticeable lack of power and some bogging.

Took MAFT+ off car and ran again... power back, no bogging.

    So to my questions...

    1. Has anyone seen this? Is my car in speed density mode and bypassing the maf?

    2. What are the jumper positions for our cars? Maybe one got moved accidentally?

    3. Can I run just the timing and not connect the MAF cables at the track?

    Thanks

Wish I could help you, Possibly contact ramchargers and see about getting some install instructions better than the one's I sent you, or a # for tech support.

This has worked for a lot of people in the past though... there has to be something somebody has figured out?

What about just hooking up timing for now? Does that work?

</font>[/QUOTE]the problem with that..is that i think (im not sure) the unit gets its power from connecting to the MAF ...so in order to use just the timing controls..it still has to be connected to the MAF...i think thats also how it knows what rpms the car is at and everything so that it can adjust the timing correctly...but again...im not positive about that...but thats the way it looks

ya know...when reading the description of the MAFT+ ...it really doesnt say anything about working for our cars...

The Translator + is a stand alone unit that attaches to the stock wiring harness on a Turbo Buick, LT1 powered F or B body and now on the L67 supercharged V6 GTP or GSE. It's simple operation allows you to adjust the air fuer ratio andspark timing across the RPM band. Timing can be advanced or retarded up to 14 degrees. A variable retard based on RPM is also availble for NOS or Supercharged applications Timing can be advanced at the low end and then retarded at higher RPMS or it can be tailored in other ways to suite any needs. The air fuel ratio can also be tuned using the Translator to make different parts of the RPM bands richer or leaner. An MAF limiter is included to stop high MAF code on supercharged LT1 applications and to stop ECM MAF reset on Turbo Buicks. The Translator will also allow the Turbo Buick to convert from the now discontinued stock MAF sensor to the new style high flow 3 or 3.5 GM sensors. Our extender chip for the Turbo Buick will double the MAF range of the stock computer from 255 gr/sec to 512 gr/sec. This will provide much better fuel control than any other system when using the stock computer. We recommend the use of a scan tool like our Scanmaster to provide feedback for proper adjustment.
