Found a deal on a Z28 take off cat-back... $25. I was thinking about getting a flowmaster muffler on it. Does anyone have this set up? My car is completely stock..
Would it sound better with the z28 I-pipe and the Flomaster muffler?..
or
should I just keep it all z28 cat-back?
What Flowmaster muffler should I get? Is it the 80 series that fits the Z28?
Also, is there anything I need to do to get the Z28 fit? Do I need an S-Pipe?
Thanks

You will likely need a passanger rear exhaust hanger, and a reducer to mate up with your s-pipe.

I have an LS1 trans am take off exhaust on my camaro. You will need to get a new hanger on the passenger side, as they do not bolt up. Mine also rattles and needs an extra hanger because it is heavier than the stock exhaust, so it jiggles more.
Personally, I like the sound of my take off exhaust. my seat of the pants dyno didn't feel any gains over stock, but I need to dyno my car. It sounds quiet and mellow at idle, but a deeeper growl. It does rice out though at higher RPM's and WOT, but not nearly as loud as an 80 series will do. Its quiet but a little more rumble than stock, just how i wanted it.
Why don't you just have the take off exhaust welded in and see how you like it? If you don't, just go back with an 80 series and the shop should be able to swap mufflers in under 30 minutes.
One thing I wish I did, buy the SLP S-pipe (loud mouth install kit piece) from them. I need to order that from them because its welded into my stock 2.25" s-pipe, which is probably why i haven't gained anything from this exhaust.

I picked up the muffler.. the guy had a Flowmaster 40 series muffler off another z28 that he gave me. So, I'll have the flowmaster put on the I-pipe and have it installed. Do I need a S-pipe from SLP? Also, I called exhaust shops and they want to charge me $100 for install.. is that too much?

100 for install is a good price, and with a 40 series, you won't have dual outlets.
The s-pipe will eliminate the bottle neck, which is my problem. I have a 3" cat, that is welded into that small 2.25" s-pipe, into the 2.75" LS1 I-pipe

Maybe its not a 40 series, then.. it has the dual outlet... do I have to get the S-pipe from online, or do you think that Midas will be able to fab one up (also, would they know that it needs one??)
