This weekend I removed my cat due to that it clogged up on the highway and I lost all power while driveing. My question is how come my SES light didn't come on since I have a straight pipe in there for now? Could my O2 sensors be that shot that they are not in proper workeing order? I thought if they went bad the SES light would have come on a while ago. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks for any help anyone gives.

How long have you had the cat off, and how far have ya drove it? And yes if your o2's where bad it would throw a code and SES light. Sometimes removing the cat wont throw a code and sometimes it might take some driving before it registers. Just hope that you are one of the lucky ones that does not get the dreaded glow of the SES light :D

you should be seeing light because the pre- and post-cat O2 sensors are seeing the same amount of O2 in the exhaust gas with just a straight pipe in there. a faulty sensor would also set a code. there is a possibility that there is a problem with your pcm's self-diagnostic functions. replace cat and if you're not experiencing any drivability problems, i woulnd't worry about it.

I drove across the state from Johnstown to Lancaster which is about 160 miles(2.5 hrs). And I think my PCM is alright since if I leave any of the sensors unpluged I get a code almost rigth away.

I recently had my cat gutted because of the same clogging. My SES light took a few starts to trip. I cleared it and I drove for a while before it came back on. I researched this and it will trip when on the sixth start of your car it runs a test on the O2 sensors and if at any time between that period it fell out of the threshold, you would see it when it runs the diagnostic on that sensor.
