  • Difference between my intake and theirs? Honestly...

Ok, whats the difference between my intake and all the others such as K&N, SLP, G2... I have a 3 inch pipe aquired from a Civic that I pointed straight down with the filter attached. I was going to buy the SLP or G2 intake before I buy some headers, but got to thinking whats the difference. The one I have now has made such a huge impact on the response of the car and I've had it for almost two years and have had no problems. I figure the pipe is straight down and 3 inches in diameter compared to a bent pipe that goes into the corner. Whats the difference?

Without seeing any pics, probably the only difference would be that the others may look a little better. Are you using a K&N (or similar) air filter?

FWIW, you're not going to get 5-10 hp from spark plug wires. ;)

The car looks good though, aside from those few areas that were pointed out.

It may just be my vision, but those custom leather seats don't appear to be red and gray either...lol

New injectors won't give you any more horsepower unless you just have already hit the max capacity of your previous ones. Also the air temp module is worthless if your going to do any kind of programming to the pcm.

You also have a MAF sensor listed as one of your upgrades... hmm unless your speed density don't worry about that lol.

As for your intake. The reason a intake pointed straight down is not a very good thing is because you are now sitting behind a wall of metal with no airflow and sucking in head from the engine. Lids sit above the radiator (ect.) to give it fresh air , cold air goes under the radiator to get fresh air and no hot air from the engine, or it can go to the side to get around that travels around the radiator(ect.) and away from the hot ambient temps around the engine.

In other words. Get a real intake and you will see some gains, or have yours worked into a better position then behind a wall of metal and next to a hot air factory.

Ok, I'm not sure if everyone is lookin at the right site. But...

To 98camaro3.8, no I am not using a K&N filter but plan to replace it with one in the future.

ianwells100, yes I do have the spiralmax I tried it for the 30 day period and DID notice the difference. I put two in there. In my site you will notice how I strongly recommend NOT purchasing them!

To memphis raines, the seats ARE red and charcoal. Doesnt matter anymore because I just sold them two days ago.

To ReodDai, I don't have a MAF listed as one of my upgrades. I have it on my poll question as to what performance upgrade to purchase next. I found one for my car but have misplaced the url address. Anyways, I'm just getting started in the performace upgrades for my car, therefore, I still have alot to learn. Thanks for the info on the intake. You were the only who stayed on subject.

I dont see a problem with it as long as its able to reach some cool fresh air instead of warm engine air.
