1) what is the diameter of the y pipe (the pacesetter one) where it connects to the cat?
2) Does anyone know if removing the cat will increase the rasp or decrese it with headers and loudmouth?

I can answer that, no you don't HAVE to but you definatly should. I was asking how big the y pipe was so I knew what cat to get if i did decide to get a cat so I wouldn't create a bottleneck effect in the exhaust.

Yeah a 3" exhaust will help out the whole system a lot. I have the pacesetters with a Catco Cat (currently clogged, looking for a better one), and the TSP Rumbler. If you happen to not get a 3" system at the moment you can go and get adapters to go from 3" down to whatever size system you have.
I got Pacesetters for mine recently, and was kinda upset to realize that my Y-pipe is still 2 1/4. It is designed to fit right up to stock. I have a 95 3.4. Is there a part number or something that I can order a 3" one maybe. I have a 3" magnaflow cat-back that would love to also have a 3" cat and a 3" Y-pipe.
So what are the little fixes that I hear you have to do with pacesetters (i wish someone would post a thread and sticky it with it). Something about welding the flanges or some sh*t like that???

welding the flanges was done on RK Sport headers not pacesetters. I know some people had fitment problems with the pacesetters, they are supposed to have that fixed by now.

I am running 3" pipe without a cat and without a muffler. I have a 99V-6 M5 as well. the rasp I found was mostly due to the enormous and terrible quality reducer cone after the cat.Whe you cut yours off, you will know what I mean.....Its that bad. Also, it made the sound deeper.
My exhaust tone changed when the computer adjusted for the unrestricted flow. I do still have stock manifolds. But with zero restriction in the pipes. I will keep them for somekind of restriction. Ask anyone whos heard mine. It dont sound like no V-6 ;)
