  • pacesetter headers and an annoying tick.

    I need some help. i have a 2002 firebird.
Im running pacesetter headers and y-pipe, with in the last couple of days i've noticed a tick from the left side.
It sounds like a sparkplug tick, but everybody says its my headders, they are known to have a bit of a tick. I dont know what to do. How do i get rid of the problem.

common problem, try searching. every once in a while you need to tighten the bolts back down after driving on the headers. you can try new gaskets but for me that never really fixed the problem entirely and it was more of a pain than it was worth. each time i seem to fix one tick i get another. and yes, it verywell could be the egr leaking also. but like i said, much has been written on this. try searching for it and you will find more help.

yea tighten he headers down, they work loose as you drive around, a good tightening job probably will get rid of the tick.

I used copper sealant on my EGR and the leak hasn't come back. You may also want to check your y-pipe connection...mine bolts were too long and wouldn't tighten the connection all the way....nothing half a dozen washers couldn't fix though.
