I have had my pacesetters for about 2 months now and no problems. The egr leaked at first but he used copper gaskets to fix it. Well today i am going home and it has an awful exhaust leak. Its alot more ticking than the egr ever was. Well its on the driver side and i looked around and the gaskets looked ok from the outside so i tightened the header down. It was pretty loose but the ticking didnt change at all. I bumped that little lip that sticks up at the oil place where the rumbler hangs low but that was 2 weeks ago so i dont think thats it. Is it my egr again or is it a gasket?

Try getting a piece of PVC piping or something. Hold one end up to your ear, and move the other end around and try to find the leak. You'll be able to hear it much more clearly, like a stethascope. Have someone else give it some throttle to make the leak a little more prominent. Just be careful not to get stuck in the serpentine belt. ;)

If the bolts got that loose, you probably blew out a gasket. Gotta keep them tight.

I bet that the y-pipe bolt came loose a little...mine did after awhile and I just tightened them the other day again.

I just tightened all my header bolts and EGR and it doesnt seem to be either one of them. I crawled under the car a little and its much louder under there. Heres the weird thing..i have the rumbler and the lowest part is the muffler by far but the y pipe has a dent in it somehow at the bottom where it crosses over and there is a rust spot in the middle of the pipe and its 2 months old? so u think i might could have knocked a little hole in it? i am cluesless right now.

Sure you didn't scrape a speed bump or some other raised object? If you knocked your Y pipe a good shot it could have pulled it apart where it bolts to the header.

Will, i can almost guarentee that the leak is coming from where speedy camaro said it was, put car up on jackstands high enough so you can fit your body under there, crawl under there and check the bolts where the clamp is that connects the header to the y-pipe, and i think its 9/16th you will have to use 2 wrenches i think thats all that will fit under there, but try to tighten them as best you can, if they are making loud Ricer sound then im sure that you could prolly wiggle the clamp and **** around. Thats how loose mine got before, but to help prevent this of ever happening again i tightened them all the way up, took it to an exhaust shop and had them like put a weld mark right on the thread under the nut. so that it cant go past that mark anymore, only problem wiht that is you wont be able to loosen that up again, will have to cut the bolt in half, but i dont know why you would want to loosen them. But yea, its a pain i had that problem after cruis'n only 5 hours during biggest cruise of the year here in michigan and yep i got to miss the rest of it trying to fix my car.

unless you replaced the y-pipe bolts to full thread then tightened down, then that might be the problem, but like someone else said, since you let the headers get loose, you probably blew a gasket there
