  • Exhaust help ASAP PLEASE???

hey, right now i have a flowmaster american thunder catback on my 96 rs, the thing is terribly quiet and gets raspy just about over 3000rpm, i want more noise and rumble and this system just isnt putting out, is there a good muffler to put in place of the 80 series that will beef it up or should i just have them put like a Y pipe in place of the muffler? Will a Y pipe make it louder but still have rumble to it or will it just be full on rice? I was also thinkin about gettin a TSP Rumbler which i think i should have gotten in the first place. I need suggestions ASAP Please, thanks a million

i dont think that any cat-back alone will take away the rasp, headers and a hi-flow cat is prolly best thing you can do now to make it rumble better.

If you can afford the rumbler, get it. It has a wicked sound.

If you plan on getting headers and intake get those first. Then if you still do not like it look into replacing the muffler.

I don't know how you can call an 80-series "terribly quiet"

If you want a new muffler, a LOT of people have been getting the TSP Rumbler. I've heard nothing but good about it.

Also, how long have you had the muffler on, fifteen minutes? Give it some time, it will deepen up.

darn buddy, i just bought the american thunder catback and i love it, if it was much louder i wouldnt like it, i have a manual and when i tap the gas and take off i get a nice growl out of mine, sometimes it doesnt sound as loud inside the car, but dont be fooled, its sounding good outside of it!

oh and u guys say it rasps up in higher rpms, mine barely if any does that?

Mine does when it's cold (before it heats up). You can easily hear me coming the street, mine is loud.
