• o2 sensor issue... still

im still getting my ses light every once in a while now after ive put on the headers (pacesetter). its weird, its not just one sensor thats reading bad... its all four. now, i know i didnt kill all of them at once. is there anything else that would be setting them all off at once that i might have screwed up while putting on the headers?

i have an o2 sensor tester but the darn 9volt battery was dead and i didnt have another single one in the house and that was 2 days before i left for school, so i never got to it. ill have to wait till october before i can give it a look over again.

I dont know... I did kill both my rear 02 sensors. I have a new sensor in the pre-cat and a sim in the post cat. That took care of my codes for a few months and now I have a problem with my passenger side manifold O2 sensor. Still havent replaces that one yet. So, I guess maybe it is possible to screw up all 4 of them.

heh, i just cant take you seriously with that avitar ellik. but still, i doubt it was all four. i never even took out the post cat sensor. and i replaced the driver side manifold sensor right after i did the headers (i stripped the threads) and its still reading bad now anyway.

It's common to have 02 sensor problems within the first few weeks of coated header installations. I just wante dto get that out of the way first. it would help to clear all the codes and then run teh car and see what codes set first.

I can tell you however that header leaks before teh sensors can lead to setting codes of this nature

if it were the leaks setting off the codes, would that be harmful to performance, or does it jsut set off the light and thats all.

if you had a leak you would hear it, and yes, it would affect your performance. I had a leak when I first put mine on.... ticking sounded like a lawnmower.

Same here. Itwas leaking it places I didn't even know it could. Now it just has a small leak on the drivers side bottom bolt #2.

if the leak is infront of one of the front 02's you will drive it lean and in turn run rich when the adaptives try to compinsate for what the PCM thinks is a lean bank. and yes, that will hurt

i know what youre talking about. if i dont tighten the cutout down well enough i get a really loud and nasty leaking noise. but up front what i think i hear is different. you can only hear it when you get underneath the hood and stick your ear right by the headers. it almost makes me think its just a belt ticking or somthing and im just parinoid. its hard to pinpoint. its just the ses light that keeps making me think header leak. like i said, i allready replaced the gaskets once using ultra copper and rubber fiber gaskets. i dont want to have to do it again.
