i'm keep the system. just replacing the muffler. :D I have to keep the 3" setup for my soon to be supercharger mod. I just need a quiter muffler.
Welp, I got my Edelbrock muffler put on today. Everything went pretty smooth as for hooking it up to the current 3" American Thunder exhaust system. The only thing that I can see wrong is, the exhaust tip that is on the right of the car when looking at it, is about an inch farther out than the left one. No biggy since you can not tell it unless you get right up to the back of the car and look down at the exhaust tips.
As for the sound. Well, when I first started it up. It was loud. Probably loud as the flowmaster if not louder. But as it warmed up it did quite down. The Edelbrock is a little quiter than the flowmaster but not a big difference at all. As for the sound. I love the Edelbrock. It kills the sound of the flowmaster. The flowmaster was just loud, kind of hard to explain. The Edelbrock has a very and I do mean a very nice tone. But, even though it is a little quiter than the flowmaster, I still see some cops pulling me over in the future. Although it is not as loud as the flowmaster. I'm thinking about putting my Borla tips back on since they did a pretty good job toning down the exhaust note on my Dynomax muffler. Although I don't know how it will effect the sound. I know on my Dynomax the tips helped quite a bit. I'll let you guys know more after I take some more time to decide on the tips. I'm going back to the performance shop next week to have a U bend made into a S-pipe. I may go ahead and put my Borla tips back on or just buy me some new ones.
Thanks Justin for the advice on the Edelbrock muffler. It's the best sounding muffler I have heard on a V6 Camaro yet. What was pretty cool. After I had it installed the two guys that work there(the only ones I will allow to touch my exhaust system) one of them said, you know if I did not know your car was a V6, I would think it was a V8. :D
I'm not wanting my car to sound like a V8 by any means, I just want it to sound good, and I'm happier than I've ever been with it.
yeah, i have several mods done. I need to list them on here. As for the sound clip. I may be able to get one. Would be great if I could. The sound
Guardian, I am really happy that you are happy with the sound! You've probably noticed that although it can be loud, it is a 'quieter' exhaust for our cars. I have been eager for others to try the edelbrock, because no one that has ever heard it, that I know of, has ever been disappointed with it. I hope that you contiue to enjoy it as I have. Just one note. It will continue to quiet down and mellow out the longer you have it. Mine wasn't into its final sound until about 500 miles or so had been put onto it. So if you haven't put that many miles on yet, it will continue to quiet down and mellow out. Report back to me in e-mail or in this post in a while, and let me know if you are still this happy with it.
Will do Justin. I should hit right around 500 miles on it this weekend. Yesterday I went and had a U bend made into a new S-pipe so, that didn't help quite it down any. But, it does seem to be a little quiter than when I first had it put on. Right now I say I have around 300 miles on it. So, I'm hoping that it gets a little quiter at lower RPM's. The sound still Best sound ever.
