does anyone have a flamethrower hooked up to their fbody or any other car? wonderin how well it turned out, id like to do it for show but im kinda worried about it not being what i want, thanks for any help

its real easy to do, but you have to gut your cat and it screw up your o2 sensor so you have to get a simm. But it looks pretty killer at night. if your into the show thing you will stand out a little more with this on a newer F-body. It's rather simple
Although, I haven't quite finished the system on my 98 T/A, my 70 T/A has been shoot'n flames for years now
Here are the basics:
1) Spark Plugs mounted in the exhaust near the tips
I had Denny over at mufflex install threaded Oxygen Sensor bungs on a custom 3.5" exhaust system that he built for me...
The Spark Plugs thread right in...
2) Seperate Ignition system
I have devised a simple switched igntion system that's very easy to install and requires inexpensive everyday parts...
Checkout Nick's Webpage for a parts list and wiring diagram...
3) Fuel Source
In the old days, all you had to do was fire up the spark plugs and yank on the choke cable to get 4-7 ft. flames out the pipes...
And although this worked fine, it also had its drawbacks...
The motor would run very rich, causing it to be underpowered...
Of course, with today's EFI engines, you don't have a choke to yank on lol
Even if you could get the engine to run rich, the Cat's would usually burn off any excess unburned fuel and you would get little or no flames out the pipes...
At Flamethrower shows and contests, they usually use expenzive fuel injectors with computer controlled pulse mechanisms to get flames up to 30 feet long!!
This is way too complicated and dangerous for most poeple looking into installing a Flamethrower system, so I came up with an idea that is again, very simple and inexpensive
My idea is to use a fuel solenoid from a "Wet" type Nitrous kit to inject fuel directly into the exhaust
Installation is just as easy as installing a Nitrous kit...
Just use the Schrader valve as the source (I'm also thinking about using the distributor block near the fuel filter), then run a braided fuel line to two fuel fittings in the exhaust...
Also, just like with a Nitrous kit, there are many different safety features that can be used (I recommend you use them as well)...
1) Main Arming Switch
Arms both Fuel and Ignition sources...
2) Secondary Fuel Switch
Fuel system will not operate without this switch being on...
3) WOT Switch
This ensures that the fuel system will only activate at Wide Open Throttle, giving full exhaust pressure to blow the flames past your plastic bumper cover...
4) Push Button Activation Switch
This allows the system to activate only when the button is pushed...
You won't be able to leave the fuel system in the "On" position...
Without all of these key features triggered, the system will not operate (great for safety reasons)
As for the flames themselves, they can be adjusted anywhere from 3-10 ft as easily as changing fuel jets
