I know this is probably a stupid question, but will an loudmouth cat-back for a LS1 go onto a 2002 3.8 easily (or at all). Also, if so, would you recommend the loudmouth or a Borla cat-back (or maybe even some other system I havn't thought of)? I'm looking for a good sound (and performance isn't a bad side effect).
Thanks for the help,
Rob

You can make it fit BUT, I have heard a lot of people complain about loudmouth and borla. They sound good on V8s, but not so great on V6s. Some may disagree though. There are so many other exhaust systems out there though. I here B&B TriFlos are really good. Just look around. You could even rig something up yourself with 2.5-3" piping, a good muffler (flows, dynomax, ravin), and some good tips.
Also you can buy a 1993-1995 LT1 modeled exhaust (like an edelbrock or flowmaster) and it will include the S-pipe as part of the I-pipe, so all you need is the cat
well, are there any suggestions on which brand over another? I want a good sound and I'm open to any suggestions. Does anyone have the Borla 3.8 adjustable exhaust? How does that sound compared to a Flowmaster or (I know someone already suggested not doing this) a loudmouth installed on a 3.8?
Thanks again,
Rob

I have a Borla cat-back from an LS1 installed on my Camaro. Originally, I kept the stock cat and s-pipe going into the 3" I-pipe of the Borla. It had a sound unlike any V6 I've ever heard. No raspyness, very deep and melow.
Recently, I removed my stock cat and s-pipe and replaced them with an 180º U-Bend 3" pipe from Jegs and the 3" Catco cat from Summit. Needless to say, I'm VERY disappointed in the sound of my exhaust now! There's the dreaded raspy sound in the upper RPM band that every mentions and I've lost that deep rumble. I am, however, impressed with the increased throttle response and the increased SOTP feel. I think it's time for another dyno! :D
hey rob,
i have the adj. borla system on my 99, and i love it!! i have the hi flow cat from rk too, gave it more deepness, but i do love the borla, i honestly think that it is one of the best exhaust notes ive ever heard, its real low and throaty at idle and low rpm, and at wot it gets a higher pitch and just screams, so i have to reccoment the borla.

i have the borla, i love it. they all sound like ****. but the borla and b&b sound the least like ****. and with the borla, you have a built in cutout, which i like.
