• O2 Simulator&Sensor Problems(Stuff for Thought)

Okay so I just got done using the friendly search feature and came across a ton literly ton of posts about these damn O2 Sensors with aftermarket cat ect. ect. ect.

I have as you can see all of my mods cept for the nitrous is intake/exhaust. I have been getting a P032 (catalyst(sp) below threshold) or whatever code for the last 2-3 months. Each time it comes on I take it to AutoZone where they clear it free of charge....

I also got dynoed about a week ago and have come to find out that my car has been running WAY FREAKING LEAN. 18 damn near 19 on the wideband. So everyone knows what happens when Nitrous is mixed with litte to no fuel and running lean causes....

So I have come to the conclusion that running with a couple of bad O2 sensors or aftermarket cat without the O2 simulators is very bad and causes the car to run lean. There is no other explanation for my car running that damn lean.

Its a 1997 Camaro M5 with only 47,000 miles on it. I keep it very clean and I am very thourough with my tune-ups. I run NGK-TR6's for the nitrous along with fresh AC Delco spark plugs, theres no need for Taylor Spiro wires despite what people might tell you.

Anyways take it from me people. Running with bad O2 sensors or running with an aftermarket cat without the O2 sims is harming your performance in more ways then one.

But how would you account for those of us that have the sim's (and arent running lean) and we still throw constant codes?

I have an o2 sim and have a constant code... thinking about making a switch for the SES light so it will go away.

Im not sure why you guys with 2k+ or what nots problems are. Ross, you could just run autotap and disconnect the light to your ses light.

I'll most likely just disconnect mine till someone figures out how to remove that code from the pcm completely.

If I'm not mistaken, your pre & post cat O2 sensors only check the efficentcy of the cat, and have no bearing on the A/F mixture. This is why O2 sims are able to work with a pre-set voltage. They just make your car think the cat is working. You might need new O2s in your manifold/headers, you might have clogged injectors, you might have have conditions were you're getting unburnt fuel causing the ECM to lean out the mixture, your FPR might not be working totally effective, there's a bunch of places to look.

pre-o2 sensors do effect A/R ratios, the one post cat only checks to see if the cat is working
