Interesting idea. How 'bout you try it and tell the rest of us how it works out? :D

How are you going to make the opening any bigger? The plastic is pretty thin anyway.

It woudl involve cutting it out and maybe putting something in its place...

Damn I am really ghetto, I jsut made a bowl of progresso soup, and the can looks like a good 3 in, maybe I can modify it to get it to work.

Hecknow that I think about it I wonder if I could use a can of soup as a "smooth bellow" mod. Just cut off both ends.

Why not just cut off teh section of the filter holder that would slide down over the air silencer? you can cut this and make it bigger without modifying anything else (I would have to look at it again but I am almost possitive if you cut off the top of this part it will not affect how the air filter is secured to the air box).

Just remove the material between the two clips, then there sould be enough material there to hold the pieces together just fine. I also was looking into removing that material there to. I was going to use a my dremel tool to do the cutting, that air intake seems to be pretty small to me.

I used box cutters and that was a lot quicker than a dremel tool. I left a center piece going up the middle to support the filter. After doing this i removed all the black plastic so the air could come up to it. It made a difference on top end and a more noticealbe whoosh.
