  • Throttle Body Gasket

Guys I decided to take off my throttle body today and clean it out thinking it would be an easy job just take it off and put it back on. Now I need a gasket and i've searched all the dealers, autozone, pepboys, advanced auto, western auto. and no ones has it???? I didn't think this gasket was impossible to get. I read in the manual your not supposed to put solvents on when your cleaning off the gasket or it'll ruin it. WOuld it be alright if I broke out the blue gasket maker it would be alright or make a peice of carboard as the gasket temporarily while the new gasket comes in? I don't know what to do??? Any help?

I'm not sure what engine you have, but if it's the 3.8, the Gasket part #is 24503432, costs about $5.00, and you have to order it through a Dealer. I don't know of any auto shops that could get it for you.
Also, I'm not sure about making your own gasket on the TB, I personally wouldn't do it. It just sucks everytime something breaks, it seems to be during a weekend when you can't go to a Dealer and order the part. If you order the part through the GM Website, it may take awhile longer to get your part ordered and receive it in the mail. Sometimes the dealers have them in stock, but if not, they can have it for you in a couple of days.

Thanks for the info, the dealers are supposed to stock it but they don't have them, and they don't use the correct name for it anyway. I bought some teflon type gasket and im going to cut out a temporary gasket for it then im going to buy one from the dealer next week. Thanks for the help though.

I went through the same ordeal yesterday. I finally found it at NAPA.

Well I got done making the gasket. Then it took me an hour to figure out how the accelerator cable goes back on with the spring and everything I got everything on and hooked up. When I first turned it out it was idling really really fast and white smoke was pouring everywhere. It turns out the belt slipped off because i got some choke cleaner on it. So i put it back on and let it sit for a minute and the white smoke and fast idle wouldn't go away. It turns out the gasket I made isn't working to well because antifreeze is pouring out of the intake. So it looks like i've ruined my beautiful weekend until tuesday until I get my gasket. I don't understand why no one carries it if they carry every single little party for my old '90 Pontiac Grand Am. Why wouldn't anyone carry a TB Gasket? Makes no sense. Lifes a *****.
