  • 3.8 exhaust questions?

Hello first post here. I have a few questions about exhaust for the 3.8. My friend has an 2000 firebird and she wanted me to find her a nice sounding exhaust, so I came to the experts. I read through a lot of threads and it sounds like she would want the flomaster 80 series.

Is there any poping with the flows?

Is there a cat-back or is it just the muffler that I saw on summit's page?

If we get the muffler can the factory tips be reused?

Will it be able to be heard inside the car? She wants that. :D

Everything else will be stock. Thanks

It's mostly a matter of personal preference. If you feel so inclined, you may be able to attend a Coastal V6 F-body club meeting to hear some exhausts for yourself. They have a forum on this board - hope this helps ya.

By the way, I love my Dynomax. ;)

The flowmaster makes a nice rumble but won't kill you inside the car. Its a very nice sound I think, I had one on my 2000 firebird. If you want a performance increase you need a complete catback and new cat, but for sound/looks all you need is a mufflerback setup.

I havent heard the flowmasters, but i have a borla catback for the v6. I think its a mean sounding exhaust. However at high rpms there is some popping sound but its not to bad. It is very loud outside and pretty loud in the interior. It isent the best fit and will probably have to do some minor adjustments to make it fit perfectly. Overall i am very pleased with the exhaust and highly recommend it. Downside its pretty expensive.

I had a Flowmaster 40 and now have a Dynomax SuperTurbo. I prefer the Dynomax, it has more of a performance sound on my car.
