  • no difference between stock and hi-flow?

i was thinking about finishing my exhaust system with a high flow cat and an i-pipe to my flowmaster, but the muffler shop said i didnt need to replace my cat since a high flow cat is no different from the stock one i have now. i'm not sure what to think about that, since there is no incentive for him to lie about it. can someone who has installed a high flow cat tell me the real deal? also maybe the i-pipe was the real difference maker in the sound gains some of u guys have talked about, instead of the new cat.

I think the gains with a high flow are always going to be very little, but it will deepen the sound of your exhaust system. After having a catco installed, I noticed a deeper note but I wasn't pulling any harder.

I'm about to replace my cat. and s-pipe with a high flow 3" in/out cat and the solid 3" SLP s-pipe. I'll try to record my exhaust before and after so you guys can judge for yourselves, but it will be a while before I can get the clips online because my laptop is being sent off for repair :( . But I'll definitely know after the install if its louder or not, although any louder than the Loudmouth I have now might not be such a good idea... mwah ha ha ;)
