I did it yesterday...pretty time-consuming. I had no problem ripping off the little plastic fins, however, there were a few small chunks that were left on the lid, that i couldn't take off with the pliers. So, i got a screwdriver and a hammer, and started chipping them off. then, i took an electric sander, with some coarse sandpaper, and began grinding the hell out what was left of the fins. i gradually moved on to finer sandpaper, and got it relatively smooth. all i had left to do was wash it out and put it back in the car.
it seems to have made a difference. my car seems like it pulls harder now, and is a bit more powerful in the upper RPM's. it also sounds a little deeper, not much, but i noticed it. I'm planning on doing the free ram air mod next, and then maybe i'll throw a K&N air filter in to tide me over till i get some cash flowing again.
